Job Summary:
The Cardiovascular Sonography Director of Clinical Education plays a pivotal role in ensuring the availability and quality of clinical sites for students in the Cardiovascular Sonography program. This position involves preparing students for their clinical experience through lab practice, classroom instruction, and the coordination of necessary screenings such as physicals, background checks, and drug testing. The Director of Clinical Education is responsible for maintaining clinical affiliation agreements, supervising students during their clinical rotations, and ensuring compliance with all programmatic and institutional requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Education Management:
- Initiate, administer, assess, and document clinical education programs.
- Secure new clinical affiliation agreements as required and ensure timely renewals of existing contracts.
- Develop, monitor, and refine the clinical education curriculum in coordination with didactic education.
- Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of all clinical education affiliates.
- Student and Site Supervision:
- Schedule students in appropriate clinical rotations and maintain supervisory responsibility for all students at clinical sites.
- Visit clinical affiliates regularly to ensure that students meet clinical objectives.
- Review and maintain student records related to compliance with immunizations, background checks, and drug testing.
- Provide support and supervision to ensure programmatic and institutional outcomes are met, including licensure and placement.
- Instructional Duties:
- Serve as Instructor of Record or assist with instruction in didactic/laboratory courses as assigned.
- Advise, coach, and mentor students, and be available to solve problems as they arise at clinical sites.
- Orient and train clinical instructors and/or preceptors at clinical sites.
- Accreditation and Compliance:
- Assist with requirements of programmatic and institutional accreditors, including advisory committee meetings, site visits, and annual reports.
- Ensure that clinical documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained securely.
- Assist with performance feedback for instructional faculty and participate in formal classroom observations.
- Community and Professional Involvement:
- Engage in community involvement and participate in local/national societies as requested.
- Attend all program graduation ceremonies and contribute to a positive campus culture.
- Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervise students in the classroom and at clinical sites, including the scheduling and oversight of clinical instructors.
- Assume the duties and responsibilities of the Program Director in their absence.
Job Requirements:
- Education/Experience:
- Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Cardiovascular Sonography or a related field.
- Four years of full-time professional experience as a cardiac sonographer.
- Must hold ARDMS RDCS certification with Adult Echocardiography (AE) or CCI Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS).
- Proficiency in curriculum development, teaching methodology, supervision, instruction, evaluation, and guidance.
- Preferred experience with educating students in a clinical setting.
- Skills:
- Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.
- Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology or a proven ability to learn these skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
